A stacked pair of miniature Japanese tansu chests, built at 1:12 dollhouse scale in dark red-brown wood with black metal corner guards and rows of small drawers. Modular, sturdy, and quietly decorative, these stacking chests are made one at a time in our workshop after the long tradition of mobile storage in Japanese homes.
Details
The set stacks two chests on top of each other, each built from solid hardwood stained to a deep red-brown tone. Every corner is protected by black metal guards, small L-shaped pieces fixed with tiny rivets, and the front rows of small drawers open on hand-fitted runners with simple metal pulls. The two chests can also be displayed side by side.
We finish the wood with several thin coats of hand-rubbed oil that deepen the red-brown color without hiding the grain, then wax the metal guards to a matte black that reads aged rather than shiny. The stack’s flat tops are smooth enough to hold a small vase or plant in a vignette, and each set is built in small batches.

Custom Colors & Sizes
The red-brown stain can be deepened to espresso or lightened to a warm amber, and a natural walnut version is available. We can build a third chest to extend the stack or quote a different scale; contact us with your color request and drawer count, and we will make it to order. Metal hardware can be blackened steel or aged brass at no extra charge.

Each set is made to order and usually leaves our workshop within 3–5 business days. US orders ship tracked via USPS in 2–5 business days; international shipping is available with tracking. The two chests are wrapped separately and padded to protect the metal guards and drawers, and we ask that you inspect it on arrival — contact us within 14 days if anything needs attention.
